Welcome to the Henderson Road website!  This site’s purpose is to give homeowners and neighbors in our community a central location for communicating urgent news, raising awareness of important issues and events, and helping neighbors with similar interests contact each other.  More specifically:

  • Provide crime prevention alerts and updates on the Neighborhood Watch Program

  • Introduce our community to potential new homeowners

  • Connect again with existing neighbors and meet new neighbors

  • Ask for your participation by contributing news and articles and suggestions for the website

We hope you enjoy and visit your website often.

Look forward to seeing you again soon,

Your Neighbors

Important Information Regarding DeKalb County Animal Services  NEW

" Please see the attached information regarding DeKalb Animal Services and the horrid conditions there….Go to DeKalb Imitative  on Facebook and see the information there.  There is information in the outreach document about the petition that is at change.org and the upcoming Town Hall Meetings.

DeKalb’s Board of Commissioners and CEO always find the money to do the things that they think are important.  The animals have NEVER been important to them…so much so that the CEO’s proposed budget slashes almost $400,000 from AC’s budget.  This after he appointed the Task Force that presented the documentation in the ASTF Presentation that is attached…These are their findings.  They have lost 7 officers in the past 2 months and no job announcements have been posted to hire more ..."

The following is an excerpt from Linda Karr, owner of The Garden Enthusiast - Backyard Nature Station, 12/21 e-newsletter::

Fellow Backyard Nature Lovers:

Still have some shopping to do? Avoid the mall and shop downtown Olde Town Tucker you’ll find some unique gifts at the antique stores, Festival and, of course, The Garden Enthusiast!

Update on Main Street

The next Olde Town Tucker event – the Tucker Chili Cook Off - will be on Saturday, February 18th. There will be music and celebrity judges. There will be three divisions – Restaurant, People’s Choice and Judged (community, individual entrants). There will be a $30 entry fee for those who would like to enter their chili (red beans & rice or gumbo) recipes. The $30 entry fee includes your space and two two-shirts. You need to provide your own 10x10 tent. If you need one, please let us know. Dee’s Sweet Bake Shop will be selling king cakes. Keep watch at http://www.tuckerchilicookoff.com for more details.

Chuy’s Mexican Grill will open in late January. This is a family-owned restaurant not to be confused with the Texas chain. Jose Ayala and his family live in Stone Mountain.

(I really enjoy visiting and shopping at the Backyard Nature Station.  It's a nice addition to Main Street.  Stop by or visit their website to learn more about future classes. - Jenni)

Sidewalks on Henderson Road - Status

  • Update 1/20/12:

18 County Sidewalks

The design work is mostly complete, and is waiting on the Right of Way acquisition to complete before being finalized.  The county has limited funds, and is not currently able to buy the properties needed.  As stated below, they hope to get additional HOST funding in a few months.   The project is not dead, but is stalled until more money is available.  I would expect at least 2 years before construction begins.  (Kevin Skinner)

Right-of-way acquisition is pretty much on hold now because only minimal HOST funds were approved for the project in 2011.  We hope to get more funding from 2012 HOST.  We should know the answer to that sometime in March or April.
