Henderson Mill
Gridlock
If you travel weekday mornings on
Henderson Mill Road, you'd noticed the change in traffic since
October 19th. Observations from homeowners traveling from Evans
Road and Henderson Road directions believed it was related to the Evans
Road traffic light. On 10/26/09, a report was made with the
Traffic Engineering Dept. of the DeKalb County Roads Division.
They would assess the issue within 5-7 business days. The
engineer and tech would check the programming and determine if the
cause was programming or equipment related. A resolution
would occur by end of
week.

On 10/29/09 morning,
homeowners reported seeing county reps monitoring the traffic situation.
Resolution follows:
From: Glover, Ben
Sent: Wednesday, November 18, 2009
To: jenni@hendersonroad.com
Subject: Repair Followup
[Jenni] this is a follow up to our conversation on or about November
13, 2009 regarding repairs. The repair activity that was centered
on the reported signal problems at Evans Road @ Henderson Mill Road
was reportedly due to a stuck pedestrian pushbutton which adversely
affected signal phasing times. The solution involved repairing the
defective pushbutton and checking the intersection for proper
operations.

Mr.
Glover,
I
really appreciate the detailed explanation of the cause and
resolution. I’d like to thank you and your staff for promptly
responding to the traffic light issue. The traffic flow is
significantly better!
Best Regards,
Jenni

Concerning Rezoning of Les Jardins Apartment
Henderson
Mill Road neighbor reports 1/14/09: "The corner house at
Henderson Mill Rd. and Dunnington Cir.,
that has been empty for several years, is about to be demolished.
After the apartments were built behind that house, the run off from
them went into the basement of this house. The house became
moldy and uninhabitable. The owner has been fighting with the
county ever since. It is our understanding that the county
finally settled with her and plan to tear it down sometime in the next
few weeks."

On December 18,
2007 the BOC approved an ordinance accepting and appropriating a Flood
Mitigation Assistance program award from the Federal Emergency
Management (FEMA), into a new Stormwater CIP account, for the purchase
of five flood prone homes in District One (includes Dunnington
Circle).
